Our environmental and artisanal values
For us, sustainability is the natural extension of our company's values. We apply attention and respect not only to our products but to every participant in the story of our fabrics, from the animals and the breeders to our employees. We firmly believe that the environment in which we exist is an integral part of us, and it is only through its preservation that we can create objects of true quality.
We ensure that all the materials we use are as eco-friendly and ethical as possible: plant-based fibers such as linen and hemp come from controlled cultivations where no pesticides are used, while animal fibers originate from farms that allow the animals to live in a serene environment, nourished with quality feed in complete harmony with nature.
Our attention doesn't stop at the raw materials: the entire production process is meticulously designed and managed to have the lowest possible environmental impact.
A fully sustainable crafting process
Sustainability is at the core of our values and is reflected in every step of our production process.
To reduce our environmental impact, we have embraced the use of renewable energy through the installation of solar panels. Simultaneously, we have optimized energy consumption by incorporating LED lighting and machinery equipped with inverter technology.
Through extensive research and studies, we have successfully patented the application of entirely natural adhesives, transforming industrial waste into harmless wastewater that can be safely disposed of. To ensure the effectiveness of our efforts, each stage of our work cycle is certified by organizations that monitor and verify our commitment to sustainability.
Nefele, uncompromising quality with respect for nature
In 2023, Maria Gabriella Crotti launched the Nefele project, dedicated to ethical production of shatoosh wool. In the past, this fabric was made from the wool of the chiru, a Tibetan antelope that could not survive the harsh temperatures of its habitat once its coat was removed. As the animal faced the risk of extinction, the use of shatoosh was prohibited. However, the production continued through illegal poaching, tarnishing the product with bloodshed.
To replace chiru wool, Nefele is crafted using the undercoat of the vicuña, an incredibly fine and soft fiber that is sheared without causing any harm to the animal. The splendor and refinement of this fabric stem from the delicate nature of its yarn, which can only be handled by specialized high-level machinery. We take immense pride in being one of the few companies in the world capable of working with it, thanks to the unparalleled care our artisans dedicate every day to create pashminas with the texture of a cloud.
